The Poor – Beatitudes Part 1

by Dixon Law Office

One Jesus's most famous sermons is the Sermon on the Mount. In this series of post we will review the principles highlighted by Jesus as they relate to our work as lawyers, our clients and the legal syChurch Poor Charity Donation Catholic Box Helpstem.

"God blesses those who are poor and realize their need for him, for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs." Matthew 5:3 (NLT)

The first point Jesus makes is that the poor are close to him. In fact, the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to them. The reference to poor is to poverty in money but in some translations it is described as the "poor in spirit."

At Dixon Law Office we see people who have broken spirits every day. The "never" events have happened to them. Maybe a car accident, maybe a medical malpractice, maybe they fell at a store, maybe their loved one was abused or neglected at a nursing home. Whatever the wrong is, the event was never supposed to happen. When it does, their spirits are broken.

These injuries always have a financial toll. Many times it is obvious. The breadwinner cannot earn his salary any more. But other times it is more subtle. A grandmother who is hospital is often visited regularly by family members and they lose time and money by not being able to do other things.

At Dixon Law Office, we come alongside the suffering victim and her family to help. We do our best to help mend the broken spirit by showing them a path to recovery. We show every client, regardless of financial means, what we can do to help.

By helping those with poor or broken spirits, we are doing our part to fulfill the mission we have, to make things right.
