Pain to Victory
Suffering the pain and hardship after an injury is really hard, particularly when the pain you are enduring is the fault of someone else. Perhaps you are suffering agony after a medical procedure that went wrong. Maybe a car accident or motorcycle crash has injured you. Sometimes work injuries leave the employee suffering in pain. Whatever the cause, it is very tough to continue.
The Apostle Paul was no stranger to pain. He was shipwrecked three times. He endured beatings, whippings, and probably torture; all meted out without cause. Still, he penned these words:
That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong. 2 Corinthians 12:10 (NIV)
How can one be strong when they are weak? How can you delight in pain or hardship or difficulties? The key is to remember the focus of the Christian's life. While it often does not remove the problems, the focus helps us all remember the source of our strength to endure it.
